Archive Submissions & Ski Donations

LongSkisTruck™ Archive Standard

Preservation • Documentation • Design Lineage

Our Mission

LongSkisTruck™ serves as a living archive dedicated to preserving the skis, equipment, and stories that shaped alpine history. From construction breakthroughs to brand-defining models, our focus remains on items of enduring significance—those that reveal the DNA of skiing, its engineering evolution, and the design experiments that shaped modern equipment.

LongSkisTruck is not a traditional ski buyer. The archive grows primarily through selective donations from collectors, enthusiasts, and industry contributors who share our commitment to preservation. In exceptional cases, items of rare historical or technical merit may be considered for acquisition.

Please note: LongSkisTruck is a private, for-profit archive and not a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations are not tax-deductible. Accepted items may be featured in educational content, and some accepted items may also be offered for sale; proceeds support ongoing expansion, documentation, and preservation of the archive.

What We Seek

To maintain the archive’s depth and coherence, we prioritize submissions that align with our curatorial emphasis:

  • Pre-2000 skis with historical, technical, or design importance—models that influenced the sport’s evolution.
  • Rare or limited-production examples, including short-run variants and discontinued lines.
  • Innovative constructions, including early honeycomb cores, experimental materials, or unique engineering features.
  • Prototypes, anomalies, and provenance—items with ties to notable figures, events, resorts, or brands.
  • Brand lineage pieces that clarify transitions from wood to metal to composites and modern sidecuts.
  • Condition: Historical value matters most, but submissions should be complete and structurally intact.

We generally do not accept mass-market recreational skis, common rental-era skis, heavily damaged equipment, or items without clear historical or technical relevance.

Examples

  • Strong fit (examples): 1970s–1990s performance skis, rare constructions, unusual short-run models, prototypes, early shaped-ski milestones, or skis tied to a notable athlete/event/resort.
  • Typically not accepted (examples): modern recreational skis, common big-box/rental skis, or items that are incomplete, broken, or beyond practical preservation.

Submission Process & Policies

To propose an item for consideration, please follow the steps below. Please review the policies before submitting.

  1. Provide clear photographs (full ski, bases, bindings, markings, and any notable details).
  2. Include known information (model name, approximate year, provenance, and any history you know).
  3. Submit by email to mike@longskistruck.com.
  4. Wait for written acceptance before shipping. Unsolicited shipments cannot be accepted.
  • Shipping responsibility: Donors handle packing and shipping arrangements and costs.
  • Transit liability: LongSkisTruck is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit. Use tracking and insurance when appropriate.
  • Unaccepted items: Due to space and logistics, we cannot store or return items that are not formally accepted into the archive.
